Discovering
Your Intuitive Self

We live in
an 'energy'
world. Everything around us (including us) pulsates with
energy. Some energy (chi) is very beneficial to our
well-being. It is said to ‘interact well with us.’
We use terms like ‘good’, 'positive' or 'in harmony' to
describe such energy. Other energy does not interact so well
with ours. We refer
to it as 'discordant', 'in disharmony', or 'negative'. Such
energy can be destructive energy. It can cause our
body, mind or spiritual systems to become ‘out of balance’,
dis-eased, or even shut down. Sometimes we speak of 'survival
instinct', 'gut feelings', ‘insight’, ‘tuning into our
subconscious’, 'psychic abilities', ‘knowingness’ and
'intuition' as a means of sensing these energies so we can avoid
them, protect ourselves from them and heal the dis-ease caused by
them. Even before the body actually produces a physical
illness, energy indicators tell us of energy dysfunction going on.
If only we knew how to ‘read the signals.’ Intuition
and the ‘tools’ of intuition may very well be the ‘missing
link’ to our Higher Selves or higher consciousness that many of
us need to get in touch with.
Intuition is what is commonly referred to as the
‘sixth sense.’ It is the cornerstone of our
search beyond the other five senses.
It allows us the ability to ‘see’ the whole spectrum
beyond the physical senses.
Intuition includes the ability to discern the energies
around us. Intuition is not magical or mystical. It is
not limited to a few talented or sensitive individuals.
Intuition is a very real part of each and every one of us.
It is just as natural as any of our other senses. Like
our other senses it is honed and developed through knowledge,
exercise and use.
Our intuitive abilities are simply the means of tuning
into our subconscious minds which in turn are simply
sending/receiving stations for
the vast sea of information that pours into us from seemingly
everywhere. The
subconscious records every experience of sight, sound, taste,
touch, smell, thought and feeling.
The subconscious records our observations and every thought
and feeling associated with them. The subconscious also contains the awareness of a
higher consciousness, that of our creator and the Universe as a
whole. As Dale Olson
says it in his book Knowing your Intuitive Mind, “The intuition
is the ‘doorway’ through to the Infinite Intelligence,
super-conscious mind, the universal mind….
For the sake of simplicity, the source of many categories
can be looked upon as greater and lesser degrees of expanded life
experiences with the source again being the infinite God life
force that dwells in all life. It is the common denominator that
rings true in all religions or belief systems.” Intuition accesses the subconscious and
functions as a transmitter of body-mind-spirit messages
that each of us can use to guide our actions in this life.
We all possess intuition. We just need to learn how to
accurately access and understand it, hone it, develop it, and make
it stronger through exercise.
Down through many cultures, and through thousands of
years of human existence, a number of tools have been created to
serve as ‘indicators’, for measuring various energy
patterns, helping provide 'ideomotors'
(a means of registering responses without words,) and to serve as
methods of communicating with our subconscious, higher selves, and
spiritual committees and thus connect to our source as well as the
Universe. Many of these tools are centuries old and yet they
still work today for individuals all over the world.
We learn about them in studies such as Feng Shui, Dowsing,
Kinesiology, Medical Intuition, Properties of Crystals, and
Kirilian Photography.
Albert Einstein said of one form of
intuitive tools, "I know very well that many scientists
consider dowsing as a type of ancient superstition. According to
my conviction this is, however, unjustified. The dowsing rod
is a simple instrument which shows the reaction of the human
nervous system to certain factors which are unknown to us at this
time."
There are a number of reasons why humanity on the whole hasn’t
spent more time developing our intuition.
The primary reason is probably lack of knowledge and
education. In the
past, we have been influenced by religion and society.
People tended to fear that which they did not understand or
know. In their fear they tried to discredit and destroy what they
could not understand. Science
wasn’t able to help much. Because
the intuition was not proven through standard scientific means,
its validity was discredited.
Science has been a dominating influence on our perception of
intuition. Most of us
have been indoctrinated to need tangible proof before we are
willing to accept a new or different idea.
Humanity has been reluctant to accept the concept of the
intuition and has worked hard at discrediting its validity.
(There is one common form of intuition that has been more
openly accepted though. It
is commonly referred to as “mother’s intuition.” Mother’s
intuition is a mother’s ability to know when something is wrong
with her child before any exterior clues are substantiated.)
All that is asked is that we keep our minds open and free
from judgment until we have read about and at least experienced
some of the aspects and attributes of intuition within ourselves.
As an evolving species, we are gaining increasing awareness of
our intuitive abilities. On
the whole, we are now seeing that these natural abilities are
inherent within us all. In
addition science is now starting to give more validity and
credibility to these inherent abilities of the mind through
extensive metaphysical research. Procedures and equipment such as Kirilian photography
(enteric energy photography,) kinesiology, micro-voltmeters to
register electric energy around the body, spectrophotometers,
manometers, and scanners have all helped us to see beyond the five
senses, and to provide verification of our expanded abilities.
For many of us, the use of the intuition will mean dealing
with a whole new way of sensing and acquiring data from our
environments and being able to take the guesswork out of our daily
decisions and choices. We
can now rise above the trial and error kind of approach and
acknowledge the pool of infinite knowledge available to all of us.
We just need to learn the skills necessary to accurately
access our intuition. To
not use intuition would be comparable to not employing the skills
of language, reading or writing.
It is possible to get along in this world without these
skills; however the quality of life is greatly diminished.
